The public sector is already revolutionizing government services through AI, whether it’s enhancing cancer detection systems for the military, advancing water conservation, or identifying disaster relief areas. Today, at the Google Public Sector Summit in Washington, DC, we are announcing a total investment of $15 million in new Google.org funding to two leading public sector organizations—the Partnership for Public Service and InnovateUS—to further enhance the skills of U.S. government personnel in responsible AI.
### Partnership for Public Service: Leading Federal AI Training
A $10 million grant to the nonpartisan nonprofit Partnership for Public Service will help establish the Center for Federal AI, set to launch in spring 2025. This hub will focus on developing AI leadership and talent within the federal government. At the Center, everyone from interns to executives can learn to use AI responsibly in their government agencies. The Center will offer a federal AI leadership program, a federal AI internship program, and initiatives to foster a dynamic learning community for federal AI leaders.
The Partnership for Public Service has been instrumental in promoting AI adoption within the federal government. With support from Google.org and other partners, the organization has been working since 2019 to train 550 top career government leaders, representing over 50 agencies in 35 states and overseeing hundreds of thousands of federal employees, in AI skills.

### InnovateUS: Bridging Skill Gaps Across State and Local Governments
An additional $5 million will be awarded to InnovateUS, supported by a consortium of federal, state, and local government partners. This organization has been at the forefront of offering free AI training to public sector workers through self-paced courses, live workshops, and training programs. InnovateUS has trained over 40,000 learners and has more than 100 partner agencies.
With support from Google.org, InnovateUS will expand its reach by offering AI courses, workshops, and coaching programs tailored to state and local governments to over 100,000 public sector workers in more than 30 states. The program will include customized AI training for public officials developed by InnovateUS, as well as access to the Google Career Certificates program, which includes AI training. New Jersey, a founding member of InnovateUS, has already seen the benefits of AI training, with thousands of state employees adopting AI to improve service delivery.
